GS Charters
San Francisco Bay Sailing
With GS Charters, you go sailing aboard Gentle Storm II, a Catalina 42 sailboat.
Your skipper, Rick Niles has been sailing for over 30 years, mostly on San Francisco bay, with charters and racing and family enjoyment. Rick has sailed in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, South Pacific and New England. He has raced on many different types of boats on San Francisco Bay since age 14.
The boat you will sail from Sausalito, Gentle Storm II is Rick’s 5th boat and is a Catalina 42, known for being a roomy, fast, comfortable and extremely sea worthy sailboat.
Gentle Storm has a fairly wide hull which keeps heeling to a minimum. Where some boats heel far to the side sailing in San Francisco Bay winds, we keep pretty upright.
Dogs and children are welcome on charters and we provide lifejackets for kids under 13.
Rick is a US Coast Guard licensed captain and puts your safety and comfort above all else.
You may custom tailor your San Francisco Bay sailing day to just about anything, as long as we remain in San Francisco Bay and nearby off-shore.
We have regular sailing tours, but they only serve as a starting point for ideas. There are a number of places to go. And many ways to spend a day sailing on San Francisco Bay.
We only do private sailing charters and tours and we sail year around. Snacks a light lunch and beverages are a part of your sailing charter package
We don’t go out in strong winter storms, so reservation dates will have work around those conditions. By Monday or Tuesday of any given week, we have a good idea as to the timing of winter storms and take a conservative approach in booking dates.
Rick is also an author of thrillers and mysteries working under the name of R.A. Niles.
